Here is one way to add logos to your poster, if you must. Click on image to see it large. See previous post for how not to do it. Full details at “Designing conference posters.”

One of my longstanding pet peeves about scientific posters is the trend of including more and bigger logos at the top, as if the branding was the most important part of the presentation. The practice is encouraged by zillions of templates on the internet, by mentors who think it’s cool, and of course by the research sponsors and conference organizers who want to see their own logos in a prominent position on all surfaces at meetings. If you absolutely must have a logo, make them small and corral them into a small area at the bottom of the poster (perhaps in the Acknowledgement box??). So to help people navigate this issue, here’s a little example poster. Please share with anyone who might be at risk for logo abuse. Do it for the children.
