We have a small fig tree near the compost bin, and it’s gone nuts this year. Probably had over 100 fruit so far. This bowl is from a single day. I brag about this partly to alert people to the fact that they are hardy here, but also to say if you want to suck up to me, I’ll be giving away root cuttings this winter. If you’re interested, original came from Columbus, Ohio, from my father’s garden. Squirrels don’t touch them for some reason, which makes them the perfect fruit for Swarthmore. I cover it some winters, but most winters I forget to, and it’s been fine.
